1996 S600 Coupe, Is It A REAL AMG?

Is this a real AMG 1996 S600 Coupe?

1995 S600 Mercedes Coupe

Ad Copy: This is one very impressive looking car This car coat over $150,000 new. It is grey metallic with a two tone grey interior and has the AMG package had 483 horsepower. "It has been described as a 150 MPH recliner." I am always getting complements and people asking "does that really have a V12. I have had the car for about a year. I bought the car from a dealer who purchased it from at an auction, the car was impounded and and the fender, headlight inner shield was missing, hood was bent and the bumper was smashed. I have pictures of the car the day I bought it, but the car has a rebuilt title. I think this had more to do with the car being purchased with no title and a COP (certificate of Purchased) than the damaged. I fixed the damage and had the entire car painted the original grey base coat clear coat. I also must say there was absolutely no rust on the car whatsoever. Over the year that I have had it I changed the transmission filter change and flushed the fluid, installed new plugs, cap, rotor, plug wires, lower ball joint, upper A arms, and fan clutch. The car has 165,000 miles on it The car is not perfect, most are not with that mileage, but it has a ton of bling for the price. Any question please call me at 630-728-6155

So is it a real C140 AMG Coupe?

If its not an older Mercedes-Benz product than it wasn't worth building.

There's no such thing as a 483hp M120 V12.

That "AMG" is faker than an S320 with V12 badges

I thought 483HP was low for a M120 AMG but they didn't make S320 coupes.. I emailed the guy asking to see the engine about an hour ago and interior

S600 AMGs in Japan had 440hp from the 6.0 engine so 483hp is not low at all.

I think you're over analyzing my S320 joke too much. All I meant is that the car is fake, fake, fake!

These days you cant go by AMG stickers at the rear anymore ,even the little A class owners stick AMG ( A Mother's Glory ) onto there cars lol , not even by the engine sticker, you can buy the AMG metal engine sticker or plaque on ebay ,a more complicated thing to a transformation wich many dont even think of doing because it involves taking the delicate cluster out and taking it appart in a way ,ask the guy to send you his AMG cluster picture of the Speedo instead like the one you see below .
He even lies unless he dosnt know (as an amg car owner )about the top speed ,lol. There is nothing i can see that indicates that it is a genuine AMG exept the sticker he has there & the owner's description ,the rear trunk badges are to high as well by the look of it ,we forgive him for that since it has been resprayed & debadged then rebadged probably, but in the wrong places ,lol .

Some more info for AMG S600 here :

S600 Performance
The flagship model of the W140 lineup, the S600 (600SEL until 1993) LWB saloon set new standards of performance, the likes of which had never been achieved with such a heavy robust car up to that time. The 6.0 V12 engine was capable of accelerating the 2 tonne, 18 foot saloon to 100 km/h in as little as 5.5 seconds and with a top speed of 179 mph with the limiter removed[citation needed]. Mid to high range acceleration is immense and closely matches the first generation S63 AMG model in this regard[citation needed]. Even today the S600 is still popularly used as an alternative performance option to the newer, more expensive AMG models. There were available, a limited number of the SEL600 model with an AMG aftermarket powerpack upgrade, increasing the power output to approximately 445PS with 623NM of torque thanks to slightly more aggressive camshafts, pistons and connecting rods and a computerised remap of the original ECU

Here is some more info for you , if you check out the several coupes on that link you can spot the AMG & the normal coupes ,all the AMG coup's have a lip spoiler and miniskirts added onto the sides ,some have spoilers on the trunk as well .
I belive that the scale models you see there are genuine AMG since the modellers have to be specific of how a car looks that they try to replicate to its bigger genuine model from AMG .
There are some good looking cars there ,check out the Silver coloured S600 near the middle ,the one with the doors hood & trunk open ,thats what i'm looking for .

thanks Merc s500, this is what he sent me: The weather has been miserable so I have not been to my building to take some pictures. I don't know what your expectation are for a 600 with the AMG package. I have seen other s600 AMG's like mine and it looks like just like AMG's have bigger wheels. ??? Please let me know it you know something different. I will get he pic to you as soon as I can wash it up again and get it outside.

Jeff

I sent back just now: I know these cars in and out, the AMG package was at least another $30,000 and it wasn't just wheels and a badge. The badge is what someone added on, and the V12 badges look off from there usual place. Please get me some pics, I know the interior is different then the usual.

The car is in beautiful condition, i've seen alot of w140's on sale in Illinois, but most of them where run down, and in bad shape( I cant believe people treat these cars this way ), the fact that it has an amg badge is ridiculous, i agree, but i have seen a white w140, with not only v12 and amg badges, but with 4MATIC! and 2 hoodlums sitting up front which the driver had 1 arm on the steering and leaned back, i was laughing all the way to my house, but as long as its not a v8 with a 600 badge, this one would be ok in my book

What is the difference between a porcupine and a Mercedes? - The Porcupine has pricks on the outside

What is the difference between a BMW and a porcupine? The BMW has pricks on the inside

Fake. That car is what I would call a bastard, because the person driving it couldn't decide if they like Lorinser or AMG better. Those front fender rocker caps are a Lorinser piece. The wheels are obviously AMG and so is the trunk badge(possibly). I wouldn't mess with that car, it will cost too much to make it right. The picture below is how a completely Lorinser equipped coupe should look.
