I'm back what is this contraption

So I got back late last night, went to go drive my car, first thing I notice is that my driver door isn't soft closing. Had a mini heart attack, then I noticed my lights were getting really dim, the car wouldn't even turn over. The battery is completely dead. I have noticed this contraption in my trunk which i think is for a battery charger but I don't really want to plug anything into it without knowing what it is. It doesn't look factory but perhaps one of you can help me out with charging my battery.I'm back what is this contraption-imageuploadedbyautoguide1353177130.101748.jpgI'm back what is this contraption-imageuploadedbyautoguide1353177143.930826.jpgI'm back what is this contraption-imageuploadedbyautoguide1353177156.617952.jpg

Hey that's a pretty slick setup. Verify which is positive and which is negative and plug in a trickle charger. Will probably do that to mine as it sits in its garage all winter.

if you need help deciding which is the positive terminal and the negative terminal use a multimeter.

good idea, but it wasnt well executed

your car battery isnt something youd wanna play around with. at the first sign of weakness - assuming your alternator is in good order - I would replace it. For $130 original MB it should last you 5~8years. And by scrimping on it, it could leave you stranded

I removed my trickle charger. The PO didn't drive it often enough. We drive the wheels off of it. I'm sure it's down in the shop somewhere.
