Glass sunroof conversion, anyone?

Hello to the W140 folks--

I'm a longtime w126er who replaced my steel sunroof with a W140 glass moonroof. Who'd a thunk that the roofs were interchangeable? Well, they are, and it's a fairly easy DIY operation. I have found two glass sedan roofs in the local junkyards and I thought I'd inquire whether any of you with the steel sunroof would be interested in a conversion to the glass variety. It would be a fairly easy thing to do-- it would involve changing the arms, and installing the rubber bellows ("accordion"), the roof seal and the interior liner. This is easily done in about an hour-- all the parts would be included and I can provide instructions, too. Asking $400 + shipping.

Here's a link to my W126 conversion video and photos of the two available glass roofs in the FS section of the W126 forum:

I have installed the glass roof panel too...but will probably go back to metal in the future.

I've considered it, but have heard that the noise level goes up when the swap is done - not sure how true it is. May be the perfect addition for some, though.

Why are thinking of reinstalling the metal roof?

What parts did you need from the moonroof car to complete the conversion? Why are you thinking of converting back to the steel sunroof?

I might have to do this when it gets warmer. My 95' has the metal and the spare 93' has the glass and how much i miss looking on a nice day. Hopefully they will bolt right up.
