Hey comrades...

Since so many people have been filling up my PM box with request for VIN decodes, I decided to rather make a dedicated thread to help ANY BENZWORLD W140 owners to obtain their Data Cards for their cars..

(ONLY Benzworld members that have made over 50 posts qualify for this free service.)

Please feel free to post up your VIN here.. I will get it decoded and post up your Data Card on this thread like the one below..

I am not the only one with the hook up to decode VIN`s, so if any other members can help with this thread it would be appreciated..

Lets go in..

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

SO I will start it of with this one for forum member "500ezin"

MafiaDon; Let me express my appreciation in advance. Thank you!

I love the data cards, I will print them out, laminate them, and put them in my glove boxes.

I can tell some things from this just by looking at it:

DB = Daimler Benz
A = American market
C = Model year 1990
G = Model year 1994

My SEC and SEL were only 228 units apart on the production line in 08/89.

Guesses:

E = S class.

XR = Regular wheelbase

3L = Coupe

XL = Long wheelbase

A = Again for american market???

Thanks again. :bowdown:

All right. I am confused. On the data card, my sales description for the W140 is listed as S 420 L. But the car simply states S420. I thought the LWB models had the designation on the trunk as well. ??? Can anyone clear this up. Thanks.
