1995 S320 W140 mirror part ***PHOTO ADDED***

Hi,
first post. Located in New Zealand.

My Father has recently purchased a 1995 W140 S320.

The right hand wing mirror was vibrating and close inspection revealed that one of the metal cast parts within the casing had broken and been glued back together.

We have managed to get the mirror apart and remove the offending part.

It would appear to be a cast metal ring that has two steel pins pressed into it and is (was) attached to the arm that parks the mirror and the pivot for the mirror glass adjustment. It also has one end of the sleeved spring connect to it. It has been broken in two places.

The only number I can find on it is 222 310.

Can any one tell me if this part is available separately & from where.

Dealers seem to want to sell the full mirror unit at a significant cost.

Thanks,

Myles

The metal ring that attached through the two shiny pins shown in your photographs is broken where your bottom red arrow indicates and the diagonally opposite corner to this position.

Thanks for the responses.

Thanks for the response.
Just to be sure, the broken piece does not appear in the above photo's but is a 'off square' ring approx 10mm thick & 60mm by 100mm with a hook midway along the wider end on the outside of the ring and a pivot almost opposite on the inside of the ring.

The long pin (hinge) runs from the hook end of the ring to the beefier side with the numbers on it.

The short pin runs along about 60% of the lenght opposite the long pin.

Hope this helps, without photo capability at the moment.

Thanks,
Myles

No luck with relacement - help needed for parts source

Hi,
I have searched NZ for a replacement mirror - all to no avail. Can anyone on this forum point me to a breaker who would have the right mirror. A photo of the cover is below. Everyone I could find in NZ has a different shape and wireing.

The cover has a sort of rib or step around it (horizontally).

Thanks

Still have everything in working order except the broken ring shown in post 7. The ideal would be to get a replacement ring from a mirror that has some other part broken. (Especially true when sourcing from the states as postage can be quite steep).

I suspect that the other side has suffered a similar fate so would like to source one for the other side as well.

Cheers, Myles
