Need help removing CD changer in trunk

I upgraded my headunit so the cd changer is not in use. How do I remove it? I have fumbled all around that carpeted box in the trunk and cannot figure it out. Simple steps for dummies appreciated, thanks.

You can pull up trunk carpet and there is a gray insulation mat that runs up against the cd changer. There are 2 flaps cut into the material.Pull up the flaps and there are 2 screws that need to be removed. You can then pull up the changer and unplug the connector and remove it. At least that is the procedure on my 97, let me know how you make out.

You could also take a ride up to Napa and have a low tech mechanic like me remove it for immediate re-use.

Thanks for the responses.

Napa, you are welcome to the changer. Bayhas, you can have the bracket, assuming I figure out what it is and I don't break it. If anyone wants the Becker headunit, let me know. It had a buggy fiber optic volume control. I would just want you guys to cover my shipping and paypal fees.

Thanks for the instructions, limelight. I pulled up the gray flaps but don't see any screws. There are 2 hex-shaped openings. The carpeted box is already loose; I can lift it about an inch, and slide it back a bit, but it won't come out. Do I have to remove the side trunk covering (that hides the amp) in order to get the box out? Pictures below. Still stumped...

Thanks for the help.

Your changer style is definitely different than mine. Those two holes under the flaps are for the inserts for the screws that are for my style mounting bracket.
Looks like you have to remove the gray carpet box around it to see the mounting screws? Dunno. Perhaps a small mirror under there would be helpful.

Here is the STAR bulletin for the MY 2000 Telephone/CD Changer Installation. This maybe helpful in figuring out how yours is mounted. It looks like the mounting screws for the bracket are very close to the changer so you'll have to take the wheel well panel out. Sorry but I wasn't able to locate the MY 1999 documentation.

Hope this is of some help.

Pretty sure that box is not a factory item.
