Since there are a lot of questions regarding wheel and tire fitment, lets start a thread. Please put in your own experience of have at least seen it done through someone you know. Do not post speculative info. Please only put info you are sure will fit

Please post:
1. Wheel Specs - size, width, offset
2. Tire Specs - (e.g. 245/40R19 front, 275/35R19 rear)
3. other pertinent info (e.g. car was dropped, spacers were used, lugbolts replaced, modified LCAs, etc) and more importantly
4. Pics - doesn't have to be your car, could be someone else's

Please keep personal discussions to a minimum. This will help other people get to the info they need faster. We can make this a sticky later on. But for now its in the knowledge base (see 1st post)

For those of us who may have aftermarket wheels, ahem, and require shorter lugs in order not tear out the parking brake or stick out of the wheels, would you provide sources/vendors, where shorter shank lugs may be purchased.

14mmX1.5 and _____ MM length.

My wheels have less flange thickness due to design and offset so.... thanks!

Also Tires sizes for 18x8 and 18x9.

No it will not be ok.

how the bloody hell will you fit 275+ on a J8 rim?

to not rub (or rub a little) you should stick to 225 tire size for that width and offset. possibly even thinner like 215.

J8 and 245/45 is just perfect but again, you will rub because your offset is wrong

wheel/tire questions for 1997 S500

Im new to the benz world so be gentle. I just bought my son a 1997 S500 benz it has the v8 5.0 303. its the 2dr. it has 20" benz wheels on it and I have no clue what the off set they are just that there 20" car rides fine just when you turn sharp the front tires scrub. the size on front are 255/35 ZR 20. do you think going with a different size tire on fronts will stop the scrub? Ill post a pic of the car and wheels soon. ive looked everywhere trying to identify these wheels and cant find them anywhere they are benz wheels though lol I figured out that much due to benz emblems in middle of rim. Thanks Robert.

255/35R20 is the right size

As for the offset just take one wheel off and read the backside. its all there

likely they are not mercedes wheels, and even if they are by some super remote chance, it doesnt mean they are the right ones for the 140. our cars are picky. you can change the center rings to anything. it doesn't mean the wheels are OEM so don't go by that.

if they rub when you turn sharp its probably because the front dips from the weight transfer and the tire hits the fender - offset is too low.

it seems to only rub when I make a deep left hand turn. car rides smooth other than that. guess Ill take one wheel off and see if the size is located on back of wheel like someone suggested and call a wheels shop to see if its something that will work on my car. I was told it also might be the tire size. seems the tires on front are taller than ones on back. thanks for the response. also noticed the rear springs has some 2 shims like objects someone placed in them to raise the rear up 2 inches.

245/35/20

I have a '99 S320 and have 245/35/20's on the rear and 225/35/20's on the front. It looks a little funky with the stagger (bought from a client who has a newer Benz) so I thought that I may go to 255/35/20's alll the way around.

Stay with 245/35's all the way around?

Any feed back?

Thanks,

99 BB

I agree 225 is a little narrow BUT without info on the wheel specs its going to be hard. Do you have the widths?

The wheels are the same, the offsets are not.

You need the monoblocks that are 40 or higher. Some people do manage to squeeze in et35 but it looks weird. 29 isn't going in though

Listen to me VERY carefully, and keep glancing at my avatar as you read this. I recommend PATIENCE. In my avartar you see authentic 19 inch(!) AMG Monoblocks, 40mm offset made to bolt DIRECTLY onto a W140 with NO spacer, NO modification. THAT is what you want - a direct bolt on. PROPER offset. Do NOT buy until you are sure. Spacers= vibrations. No No. Get the true and living authentic. Ya heard? DID? YOU? HEARD?

Don't come back to this thread until you've done it, and done it RIGHT. Now, good day sir. I. SAID. GOOD DAY, SIR.

1995 S320 16" Alloys

As far as I know, I have stock size wheels (rims) and tires on my 1995 S320. I don't know much about the wheels but the tires are:

P225 / 60 R 16

Will someone tell me what the biggest size wheels (rims) I can put on without spacers, etc.?

Will you also let me know what the appropriate tire size is for those larger wheels, so that there would be no rubbing, etc.?

Thank you in advance...

Rich
