I'm about to hit over 500 miles per tank (s320),mixed city and hwy. driving on Chevron premium.
Someone mention that the fuel economy gauge is useless,
for me it's more like an indicator of the quality of the fuel - 70-80 mph should be 30 mpg.
P.S. Never try to test your fuel economy by running out of fuel ,you never know what's on the bottom of your tank.
Not a great deal in it to be honest. I was getting 32mpg in the s280 driving sensibly and around 30mpg in both my s320's. Or to put in miles/tank - 600 in the s280, 550 in the s320. On saying that, my s280 was a 4-speed auto, whereas both the s320's were 5's. Might make a slight difference.
S320 is definitely a better engine though - you can certainly feel the power difference.

Alrighty, thanks for the replies guys, How much will a full tank cost (how many litres can it hold) for both the S280 and the S280?
All s-classes have the same size fuel tank capacity at 100 litres.
Regular unleaded is about 90p/litre at the moment in the UK, so £90 for a tank full. Scary huh?!
Hmm, well let’s say its "95" litres for the sake of it, if a full tank of unleaded can go on average 450-500 miles; I say that’s pretty good... I guess. (For a 3.2litre.)
I mean, my friend owns a 2003 Polo 1.0litre, and I must admit, he filled up £32 of unleaded (full tank is 35 litres I think) and it took us from London - Standsted Airport back to London, and back to standsted airport and BACK to London again, then drove all the way to Maidstone from London, and then back again and the gage wasn't even close to the red mark.
So comparing the 2 in my head, sucks! And the bad thing is, in Turkey unleaded fuel is priced at around £1.19 a litre. (Where I will be moving soon.)
I mean, let’s put it in your perspective, how much do you fill up weekly and how far does it take you? Do you need to fill up at the end of the week? Or will it still go on?
Well, I've just worked it out. If you can do 500 miles per full fill up (100 litres) that means the S320 should average around 20-22mpg in the city. Correct me if I'm wrong?

Appreciate the feedback

Well in the mean time ask yourself how much driving you'll be doing with such a large car in London anyway? I'd make sure you have parktronic and are good at parallel parking.

Not true, if the car is equipped either with the ski sack option or the rear armrest refrigerator, the tank full capacity would be 90 liters instead of 100.
