First, are you sure that you have an original Mercedes alarm?
What is you VIN? (to see the option codes)

If we look at the parts drawings, there are a number of different location and
versions of the alarm;
Ê*ò*ëîã
but I think they all should be on the right hand side in the trunk.

The one that you have found, is the N57, convenience control module (windows etc.);

That last N57 image was from my previous 1998 S320. Here are
some images from my 1998 CL500, with both alarm and interior
protection;

The left box in the above image is the telephone module (a original GSM W210 variety),
and the one to the right are the BOSE amplifier.

In this image, you can see both the N57, and the white alarm module.
Mine has part number 140 820 91 26, which should be the last
version made.

My blinkers go off because someone installed a aftermarket keyless lock module(under rear seat) so you can lock/unlock the car from a greater distance away than the stock set up. I do have a separate key remote to do this with. The factory one I have to be very close to the car were as with the other I can be up to 60feet away

This newer kind of remote from Mercedes (mine) operates by RF for lock/unlock
and IR for closer convenience function (closing windows and sunroof)

I figured it was aftermarket because my car parking lights dont blink when I lock it. You may want to check with that alarm manufacturer

I quite like the thing as I don't have to point it at a door/trunk to get it to lock/unlock. My module was installed under the rear seat passenger side. If you can find yours and I'm sure you can have it replaced or as vvee12 says check with the manufacturer.

I did some hours on my 600 last night. I have ripped out the whole alarm system, it was maked mercedes but was installed like a aftermarket alarm. Very strange. Anyway after i did the complete uninstall the car works fine exept one thing, The unlock function i the central lock does not work. I can only lock the car. Does anyone know what might be wrong ?

... and before uninstalling the alarm unit everything (locking & unlocking) worked? If yes, try to unplug + terminal to the alarm unit and put everything (other wires) back on place like they were. In this way you will actually disable the alarm but you will keep (maybe) some necessary connections. Worth to try. If you do not know which one is + maybe I can help later.

I have ripped every wire out of the car so there is nothing left to reconect. It was not the original alarm located on the rightside in the trunk. It was some kind of mercedes aftermarket alarm located under the metalplate on the passenger floor.
