Ever since, I thought the trunk handle pulling in WAS the trunk assist. Not until I saw another close assist at work did I realize mine wasnt working at all
another point to note, when my door close assist runs, my trunk latch pulls in regardless if the trunk is open or closed
As I found out , my trunk latch is pulled by the door close assist pump. I snapped a quick pic of the pump
the left most tube leads to the trunk.
today, I peaked under my trunk lid and I didnt see any other vacuum tube. so the tube from the door assist is the only one leading to the trunk lid
I will schedule to take off my trunk lid lining completely and figure out what triggers the latch to pull
anyone who can pitch in, please do so. thank you

Look again, the left most tube is just a vent and goes in the left corner next to the light housing and terminates there. The trunk should be on HD connector.

since I pulled it the latch has stopped pulling in. Ive followed the line and it does lead to the trunk latch
Interesting.... I also thought mine wasnt working until i looked up the option codes and realised that it didnt have the option. AFTER i searched with all my eyes for the lines leading to the boot (which are there by the way) they just seem to be sealed off near the tail lights. I might have a second look.
And while we are on the subject, can anyone tell me why my master key wont open the boot (trunk) if the battery is dead?!
good question - that one I dont know. it goes together with the other 4 lines
let me take a look at it again. I will be back
myarmar is spot on. Looks like the HD and SK lines are the only ones not labelled in your picture. Perhaps these got switched by someone. Swap 'em and see what happens.

Ive thought about doing that. but it meant I had to pull the SK line about an inch or less to reach the HD line.
I thought maybe it was switched. but when I pulled all the panels to get to the pump it seemed like it hasnt been touched since new so I knew I was the first one to it
but ok, I will try to swap em out tonight and I will report what happens
Oh yeah! I swapped and lines and pulled fuse 3 & 9 and voila - now works for the first time. Thanks Myarmar & Brett
I did notice the trunk has to slam shut before it pulls the trunk
unlike how the doors get pulled in if theyre halfway closed, the trunk has to lock before it pulls it in (which technically defeats the "assist") - is this how its supposed to work?

No, either the trunk latch in the body is loose or it is tight but adjusted too low. There are two plastic covers on either side of the latch (you don't have to remove anything but the little covers). They cover up two 10 mm bolts which mount the latch. Loosen them and slide the latch to the appropriate location and re-tighten.
Or... your striker eye in the trunk lid is not releasing properly to ready it for closing by the closing assist pump. When you open the trunk, does it pop out about 1/2 inch? It should. On my car, the PSE pump is responsible for releasing the striker eye.
