I have decided to sell the S500. It's a great car, but I'm in the mood for something newer.
I'm going to try and sell it on my own first and see if I can get any bites. Here are the details:
98 S500
Desert Silver w/ tan interior
59,450 miles
Xenon headlights
Parktronic
Power rear shade
Manual side rear shades
Michelin MXV4 tires have 4,500 miles on them
Wood/leather steering wheel and shift knob
Parrot Bluetooth handsfree system installed
Mercedes 6-disc changer
Serviced @ 56,000 miles:
- transmission flushed and filter replaced
- Front brake pads
- motor mounts
- transmission mounts
- cabin filters
- replaced hydraulic rear shocks and accumulators
- alignment and tire true performed
- Oil and filter changed w/ Mobil1 synthetic
The car is in near mint condition. Only a couple of marks on the outside, no dings or dents. The interior is absolutely perfect. Everything on the car works perfectly.

Yes it has Xenon - updated above. Pictures attached. The wood wheel/knob are not shown in one, and the side shades are not shown in the back seat photos.

Unfortunately, it's worth more to you than you're likely to get unless you snag a collector. It's a beautiful specimen, and I wish you the best of luck. Remember that something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.
If that were mine, and I was not offered the amount that made me comfortable, I'd keep it. You just put all that money into it 3000 miles ago, and that will be only a memory because I doubt you can recover that in the sale price.

I am curious why the hydraulic struts and accumulators were replaced at 56k. Seems like over-kill maintenance. Were the spark plugs changed along with the associated coils and wiring?
Very nice looking car. Check out Edmonds for a reasonable asking price.
But the big problem with the car for a Mercedes afficianado is that it has too few miles on it.
These cars were meant to cruise preferrably at 100mph over long distances. As it is, the mileage indicates stop and go short distance driving unless the previous owners went on a 5,000 mile cruise every year or a 2,500 mile cruise twice a year or other high speed long cruises.
Why don't you trade it in on the newer one that you want? And since this car looks almost new, and its maintenance issues have been addressed, what would the advantage be in getting a newer one?
Just my 2 cents of opinion.
