96 s500 rim offset????

i was wondering what offset my 96 s500 has???
i want to buy some rims for it but i dont want to risk getting ones that will stick too far in the wheel well.....im looking for something that will be flush with the fenders or a little bit in ... especially in the rear???
anyone know what offset i need? and what other mercedes say for example the new s class have that kind of offset.....
i thought rims off an ML would be great but i was wrong they stuck too far into the wheel well...
would i have to get spacers for the back to achieve that look or.....????

im looking for more of stock 17s or 18s
i wanted 20s+ but then remembered my roads and figured theyd bend in a week! so ill stick to that stock looking s class but i want newer style rims... plus if anyone has an idea where i can get some rims that im looking for please!!! help me out!

Correct, factory offset is 51 but if you specified the factory alloys that would drop to 46 I think. (Or is it 43?).

I have a 93 - the FACTORY RIMS on mine are ET51 (8hole)

I have tried 19x8.5 ET35 (front and rear); 19x8.5 ET48 front & 19x9.5 ET46 rear

Also have 19x8.5 ET45 front and 19x10 ET40

all with correct spec tires - no rub or overhang issues

Correct offsets for many models, incl W140

here is a table of correct offsets

I understand that if you deviate from this chart very much, you will enounter tire rubs and may have to roll your fenders.

good info

now I have a question - why does the 140 16x7.5 mention 235/60R16? - isnt our stock tires supposed to be 225 only? (going 235 is a whole inch bigger)
