The Check Engine light in my 1995 S420 came on and I took it to a shop to be analyzed. The technician connected it to his computer and said that it came up with a diagnostic trouble code of 26. He told me that the car needs a new kickdown (boden) cable. I have not noticed any difference in the car's performance subsequent to the warning light coming on and wanted to ask the experts on this forum about the diagnosis. Does this diagnosis seem accurate? If so, is it harmful to continue driving the car without replacing this part? Also, approximately how much does this part sell for ? Thanks for any help that is offered.
Geez ! I'm am rather amazed that not a single response has been posted regarding my question. I am new to Mercedes vehicles and am in need of some assistance. It would be greatly appreciated someone can offer some help.
Thanks for the response, Myarmar. However, I am not familiar with the "switch over valve". Can you please provide more detailed information ? i.e. - Where is it located ? What function does it perform ? How difficult is it to replace/repair ? What is the approximate cost ? etc. Any additional information will be appreciated. Thanks again for the help.
