Does anyone know if the first post radio/cd ("Special CD") unit can control MB CD changer in '99 W140? It does not seem to have the CD changer button. Thanks.
The Special CD and the Audio 10 CD cannot control a CD changer.

Not true. The Audio 10 unit can control an optional 10-disc CD changer. There is a fiber-optic connector on the back for it.
re: AM reception. Yes, they can be reprogrammed Check this: Audio 10
Someone asked about the buttons:
SC= Station Scan
CDC=Input selector for CD Changer
PTY = Displays Program Type (news, sports, etc. . .)
Regarding benefits: I really like the look of the first unit. I agree it goes better with the overall look of the car, but it doesn't look like it can control a CD Changer. That's the only real downside I can see. Which, if you don't own a CD changer to begin with, is not a big deal now is it?

That is to what I was referring to and what the original question was, that the Special CD or the Audio 10 cannot control an original factory OEM fitted 6 CD-changer on a W140.
Yup, the Audio 10 is fine with AM tuning for North America stations.
Not the "Special CD" version shown in the first pic, that one cannot be modified according to ALPINE and Becker. The AM tuning still work to some extent. e.g. it won't turn in 590 or 680, instead you still can get the station by tuning in 591 or 681 instead.

I don't think so. The only way I would think you could get a remote controlled Exquisite would be to get a used unit from a supplier in Europe. Although, most Mercs that have this unit usually have had their remote either lost or stolen. You still can get a new remote from the dealer, although I think they now ask about US$500 just for the remote.
