Nope. Never had that with any car though. My VW alarm used to lock or unlock as many doors as it felt like. That was company car though so I didn't care. The Toyota I now use for work has the occasional surging fit when I put my foot down. That's been form pretty much when it was new. Don't care about that either though. Gotta admit though I'm wondering if one day it'll do that runaway diesel thing.
My 140 has been bloody good actually. Only very very minor probs afflict it.

Well I've had my V12 just over 6 months now and whilst I've spent some money, most of that was preventive and any problems that've been fixed are hopefully fixed for a long time.
I can honestly say yes. Based on many posts, I guess I'm just lucky!
I just returned from a 2500 mile trip to Fla with 3 other adults, crusing 80+ down and back with not as much as a peep form the big thing. And it has 145K on the clock to boot!
(I did manage to "acquire" a golf ball ding in the hood though)

Getting there in a W140 is only half the fun....
the return trip is the other half!
Good topic, this. it's interesting to hear of the folks out there who've had very little go haywire with these amazing machines.
i acquired my Sebastian with only a few miles on him and had several years of trouble free motoring. when the clock struck 100k a few minor things cropped up. nothing major at all. the most troublesome for me was the ads/esp/adt (or whatever those 3 friggin' lights are) lights coming on and i would get that blasted default rough ride...absolutely HATED it. replaced the steering angle sensor about 5 weeks ago and all is smooth as silk. runs like a brand new car. and i don't exagerate...like brand new.
the trouble with these cars, of course, is that they were over - engineered as only mercedes can do and were the most advanced technological wonders on the planet at the time. mercedes was at their absolute peak far and above all others. so whenever systems like ours are so advanced and complicated, things can and do go wrong. nothing is simple about them. when one owns a fantastic machine like that, one must expect problems from time to time. goes with the territory. some may chose not to go down that road and opt for simpler machines.
i, for one, embrace it with enthusiasm! i'll keep this marvel running til i pass it on to those in my will, bless their little hearts.

Yes I have! 143,000 miles and do most of my own maint work religously now that we're out of warranty. No urgent or emergency issues in memory. Be sensible and avoid MB dealer paranoia-mongering, drive her carefully - enoy the car and she'll treat you like a king. MB forums are invaluable asset for DIY like me. I love my car! Plan to drive her as long as she'll have me!
