How to remove outside mirror cvers?

I am replacing my outside mirrors with LED ones, finally body painted.

Does anyone have photos and descriptions of how to the the covers off?

My alldatadyi.com is useless.

Thanks

I changed my car

Great photos but I need to know how to remove the mirror casing from the folding mirror assembly.

I really don't want to break anything and those things are worth their weight in gold.

I can remove the screws easyenough, but the cover will still be attached.

Hi, if you still need to do this...

1. Remove mirror

2. Fold the mirrors in

3. Unscrew the 3 large screws to detatch the mirror

4. Unplug the plugs - you should now have the complete mirror off

5. If you look inside, there is a long spring clip holding the casing to the internal mirror housing structure; it's being held in place by a plastic notch on the casing. You need to prise the spring clip off the plastic notch with a screwdriver or your finger if you can reach it.

6. Once the spring clip is unhooked, the cover pulls right off.

You can remove the cover without taking the mirror off from the car too, but it's easier with the whole thing off.

Hope that helps,

Regards,

Vent

You mean smoking like they're about to burst into flames? Perhaps the wiring in them has come apart like the engine harness stuff.

just smoking and is now non-functional.
I would think its the wiring harness... had a plasticy odor to it.
but if its some motorized plastic parts, then what would you think would most likely melt.
