cost of maintenance

Hey Guys,
What's a conservative budget for annual w140 maintenance costs/what are you paying for your year and trim - $500, $5,000? I'm trying to get a rough idea - I'm gonna own one of these things someday!

So far this year about $6k, and thats a conservetive budget. If you are going to own this vehicle my suggestion is that yoyr try to DIY or your wallet will take an abosolute hammering.

That's about it, at least for a range - $500 if you're a good DIYer, $5,000 if you're not.

About 1500-2000 US for servicing and some general repairs ofcourse tranny or AC core blows that out but general wear and tear plus servicing that I would think would be about right.

last year about $1000-1500 but i bought it with knowledge it needs some small work, (brakes, bushings, link rods, remote key repaired, indicator stalk broke, tune up, tires etc. now this year i expect to put another $2000 to it for things like shocks, rear breaks, rear bushings, sunroof, cluster clock not working, leather tidy up etc. and AC maintanance but once thats done that should hopefuly give me bit of an headstart to the following year (mind you i bought mine real cheap around 5K under market value so i have bit of room to spare)

BTW iam average DIYer so far it was in a shop just once to get front rotors skimmed but otherwise i do all myself

If you plan to purchase from a MZB Dealer I would opt for a Starmark Car and purchase the extended Warranty. My S420 had a transmission go out @ 89K, and they swapped it out free of charge. Doing the normal maintenance, they actually looked for problems and replaced parts, (shocks, pumps). There was never a question on coverage, and a free loaner was always provided, (Current Model year 240's). Fun but not even comfortable!

That being said, It's now off warranty and if I take it to a Dealer... it's always ~~ $1000.00 for each visit. MZB parts and dealer labor add up. I am now doing the whatever work I can on the car....

Regards,
Neil

Last year around $3000 US on my 500SEL and $1500 on my Grand Edition and this year about $5000 in my 500SEL so far! and about $1800 on the Grand Edition! Most of the stuff I do isn't vital and includes oil changes and new tires.
