Those of you who haven't had a rod bend, how many miles have you got on your car? Those of you who have reman. engines also. Please include the year of your car. Thanks
We have 1 member here who has a 300sd, just don't buy the 350 that was the problem one.
It was my understanding that the 92+93 300SD had the same motor as the 94+95 S350D. The 603.97. The only one I had heard had the better rods was the late '95 cars. Please correct me if I am wrong because I am thinking about buying a '95.
There is no diesel out there like the W140. The old 126 was a great car but I want something newer. I don't mind working on the car myself.

Sorry I honestly don't know what the deal is with the 92-3 cars that could be true as my W140 is a 300SEL not a 320, also the general rule of thumb is that the 91-93 cars were less reliable than the newer ones so that might rule 91-93 cars anyway.
As of today 227800miles.New head at 180000,overheated and cracked due to thermostat failure.
Installed aftermarket elektric fan.Burns some oil, about 1.5qt per 5000miles.So far so good.

The car I'm looking at has 231K on it now, on the original motor. Does not currently use any oil. Maybe this is one of the '95's with the stronger rods? On the plus side it has had the evap core replaced already and the front end rebuilt. I think I can get it for around $8K. What year was your car thengerman?
