looking at a 1997 cl500 with 180,000 miles on it. its in overall fair condition? what's a good price for this car. here's a pic of the actual car. with this much miles what should i watch out for? thanks...
is 5000 to 6000 a good price? i just worry about the miles.
Thats not bad, the timing chain and suspension parts are the only things I'd be really worried about, it's normally every 100k miles that these types of things crap out so I guess there could be advantages as in those things may have been done already.

Looks to be a pretty nice C140. I see that it has the W220 S 600 Rims. They look pretty cool.
$5-$6K seems to be pretty good, and even though it almost has 200K miles. And since it is a 1997, it should have the upgraded Clear/Red C140 Taillights, which is a big plus (especially since they are VERY rare to find)

coupes are always more $ than sedans though. In the local auto trader, there are 25+ sedans and just 1 single coupe for sale. It's at a local dealer with the worst reputation, asking $16 and change
you cant find a coupe for $5-$6k in Toronto... maybe they are cheaper in the states, but that would be listed for 12-13k min here if it were to be for sale locally here

Yea, I too am amazed to see a late-model C140 for only $5-6k. The cheapest I have seen a C140 for was for $9K, and it had 150k miles on it.
For a decent example with 80-100k miles you are looking at around $12-15k for a S500 Coupe/CL500 and around $25k for a late model, mint condition CL600 with less than 100k miles.

Here a W126 coupe on a private sale thats not dealer would retail for about 12-15k NZ that is but we trade at around 75c US to $1 so what about 8-11k US then, they are alot more pricey than the sedan.
