First, bzprince, look what you quoted, you said that it is not correct that ESP was
introduced in 1996 since you have ASR, but ASR != ESP.
(and please do not quote large images - I guess they are big enough as is,
let alone duplicates of them)
AFAIK, if you have ASR, you also have the button. The button
can look like a wheel with snow-chains, or it has ASR written upon.
If you do not have this button, you have the ETS system.
Remember, ETS behaves much like ASR, but without the trottle
limiter...

I thought ESP was on later models and it controls ASR together with ABS, so it controls power/breaking to each wheel. and i though this came around later on like 1997
Best option to tell if your car has it is to pop you VIN number to that russian decoding website and it will tell you what options your car has....
You may have ASD (automatich sperr-diffrential), later
named ETS (electroic traction support).

I believe ASD was offered on lower HP cars. I've a 92 diesel euro 300TD wagon that has it, it was rare to have it in north america. It greatly improves the car's traction in snow by locking up the diff thus providing power to both wheels on slippage.
