Ive been dying to take a road trip for a while now, so we set out on a small trip, from Queens NY to Bear Mountain, then route 9W to Kingston, then 87 all the way back home. I wanted to go further but the weather was not took good and the nature is still asleep. Seven lakes area by West Point is a lot better in summer.
Here are a few pics by West Point.
Total miles 220.

W140 looks real good in white. I recently alo did a road trip of about 1000 miles and teh ca performed well. Some people dont trust an older merc n such a long trip but I had no problems. It looks old there, I have just moved to an area where the winter weather is very cold. How does the car perform in low tempretures?
It performs fine. Temp was in low 30f's all day the the engine temp hardly passed 80c. Just make sure to warm up the motor for 5 minutes and then take off slowly.
This car is the ultimate road trip car, and I cannt wait for summer to come so I could take it to Canada.

I drive from Toronto to NYC all the time.. Its great
I'm really thinking about taking my S320 to NY from Florida. The car has done nothing that would make me think it wont make it but I keep thinking if it does break down somewhere, parts will be hard to find. I'm taking the family so I definately want the safest car I have to make the trip. I have a GMC conversion van which I drive on trips within Florida but have thus far not taken it out of state. Altogether it would be pretty close to 5k miles I would be adding to the car.
You should find a mb dealer in most towns along 95, and if you call the mercedes help line or roadside assistance they will sen someone out. NC for the service, but parts are additional. They will bring fuel, battery, change a tire and bring a fan belt.
I did NY to Miami and back once in a Lincoln Mark VII LSC. It was not that much fun after 10 hours. But in a Benz it should not be that bad if you stop over night.
I personally can not own a car that can not travel long distances, so I have no doubt that my car will make it even to CA. Fear will always be there, but once you leave the state you live in, confidence will set in and you will start having fun. I have a certain bond with my vehicles, so we have a brotherly relationship when we hit the road.[:D]
