Trying to add more power to the existing lighter.

I am having a hell of a time adding an extra cigarette lighter on the passenger side for more power for a few devices we are addding to the car. I don't want to destroy my beauty in doing so. I am thinking of taping into the existing lighter for power but need to know where to drill so I dont hit anything. I can see the exposed wires for the lighter with a few things removed but getting a wire to them might be a problem. I am thinking of putting the extra power in the crumple zone underneath the glove box cover (the carpeted area)and somehow running the 2 wires to the wires attached to the existing lighter. Any ideas?
P.S. I have a membership to Alldatadiy but it's not super descriptive on certain things so I am coming to my favorite forums for advice.

RE: Trying to add more power to the existing lighter.

[:)]I read in these posts, long ago that the lighter circuit is tied in to the starter. Blow the fuse and the car won't start.
