W140, W126, & Maybach Contrast Pics (small scale)

I think the W126 is the most elegant car ever produced.

In my opinion, the W126 embodies the whole concept of Mercedes-Benz.


In my opinion, the W126 is really the last true Mercedes-Benz.

now im fanatical about the W140, I drive it everyday, but you cant take it away from the W126 even if you wanted to.

w208cab, and k14ano. I totally agree with you. I really think that the w126 is really the last true mercedes, but the w140 is also very very good.

I owned an 88 560 SEL and even though I think the W140 is a better drivers car I still think the W126 was more stately. The W140 lost some of the style that was S-class but the newer S-class sunk to Camry styling, sad really. All that said, I still think the W140 is the all round best Benz to date.

yea. i still think the w140 is a little better, but the w126 is (in my opinion) a real s class.

First, looking at the side photo (and concentrating on the length of the rear door compared to the front door, they are all LWB, besides the 126 only came in LWB, am I right?

Second, each one may have a preference on the exterior styling, but, my god, are all those colours ugly or what????

The 126 also has the headlight and corner light upgrade that makes its styling look up-to-date.

I too like the classic styling of the 126, but it is showing its age. Regardless, I believe the exhaust pipes on the 126 are some of the ugliest ever put on a car, any car. The 140 is not very good in that respect either.

i could not drive the 126 and be proud, you would have to pay me to drive that car to school. i glad the new s doesnt have anything resemble the 126 which is wise. lets say if they made the new 2006 s class to look just like the 126 would you buy it i know you would but not me, definitely not me.

how true. I could not believe how the silly S shape exhaust is completely out of character.
im just waiting for sign of wear to give me an excuse to cut it off and replace it with a simpler straight tip.

that and the rear reflector strip on the w140.

I wouldn't mind driving W126 anywhere or any occasion as long as they are in top-notch condition with no damage or paint deteriorating. An excellent W126 looks like a real classic.

But if it looks like crab, I wouldn't want to drive it either. That would definitely look old.

thats what i was thinking as well. say that you havent wash your 126 in a long while, plus at that age add some rust to the rear fender wells, pardon my language but thats a "classic piece of junk".
