Well mine is not. Paint condition on the car has lots of “cat scratches; the bumper is getting faded and has lots of paint chips. It seems like the arm control or the suspension makes some marbling type sound. The Blaupunkpt CD changer is not functioning.
Overall the engine is ok and the leather interior still shines.

yea. i don't have too many scratches on my w140, but the leather interior still shines, and engin is good.
I got touch up paint set from MB for my w126 and it costed me $28 USD, not sure how much in Brunei though....
for more info on my touch up paint experiement go to this thread:
A few cosmetics are not. Some paint is not. But the motor is a 9. So is the tranny and rear end. Suspension is 9-10. Frame is an 8. I'd give electrical an 8. Pneumatics an 8. Hydraulics a 9, Brakes an 9. Floormats a 4. Glass an 8. Mechanics (windows, roof, doors etc) a 7. Leather a 6. Switches, other BS a 7. Everything works.

Till they all break. Then they're all a 1.
well, if i add all your points together (9+9.5+8+8+8+9+9+4+8+7+6+7 = 92.5)and divide it by the number of points you gave(12), I get 7.708333333333333333333333333...
so your car is overall rated a 7.7 out of 10. That is very good.
Now all you have to do is fix up 2.3 of the car, whatever that means.....
BTW, i don't know what i am talking about. I am just talking.

Yea My w140 works just the way MB wants it to, as in there is always somthing that can be fixed.
Overall the car is in good condition. It seems to be because of the price that on e of these was new people tend to take good care of them when they com eon the 2nd hand market.
Well, I continue to spend a great deal of time and money to keep my '97 s500 coupe "perfect". It's close. But tomorrow is another day. The only flaw on mine at the moment is the side panel on the drivers seat--with the lumbar switch--is slightly loose. But, as I said, tomorrow is another day.
By the way, per someone's suggestion, I changed my plugs (early, 75K) and it DOES make a difference. Smoother, faster, quieter. I was quite surprised.
Not bragging or anything [:D], but my 97 S320 could actually be put in a showroom and presented as new. Before I bought it, it was a one owner Florida car. By the condition of it I'd say it was a meticulous one owner at that. My car was a Lexus trade, the poor soul that traded it in not only got pennies on the dollar for it but is now driving a lesser car. Sucks to be him. [;)]
