Rear blind

Anyone had problems with their electrical rear windscreen blind?

I had an intermittent fault about a month ago where it wouldn't retract. When I re-started the engine everything was fine since then untill 2 days ago. I could hear buzzing sound when pressing the button to go up or down but no movement.

I went to inspect the problem yesterday, pressed the button but no sounds were apparent this time. Checked fuse no. 35 (I think) under the hood but it's fine.

Does anyone have any ideas before I dig into the rear parcel shelf?

RE: Rear blind

Well, alright. The retractable shade is one unit, supposedly otherwise unservicable. It can be done from the shelf in the trunk.

As far as mechanics of that thing go, I grease it with XPS2 (dry film) lube every now and then. When kids get in the car that's the FIRST thing the do - run it up and down so it gets plenty of stretchs.

Now sometimes the twin bars will hang up top if not lubed, and strip the little gears. The spring-wound netting seems to not like to retract after being exteneded for long periods.

Not sure if this answers your question. I think they're pretty expensive.

RE: Rear blind

Same here with da rear blind, unles lubricated da two bars hang up from time to time. I try and not extend fully when placing up to avoid dis problem.

Have only had to lubricate da gearbox once. All da best with your S=Klasse W140! hans
