RearView mirror

I have my rearview mirror apart thanks to the many detailed write ups on this forum.

However, now that it is apart, I am at a total dead end. I have I have only 5 parts.

1. The front cover to the rear view mirror
2. The rear cover to the rear view mirror
3. The glass itself
4. The motor assembly
5. I have 2 gold leaf springs

I see no broken clips, however all off the ses parts are looses and seperate from each other. I dont see how theses leaf springs are supposed to be attached. Do they attach to the glass? or attach to the front cover some how? Which way do the archs on the springs face? its appears like the crimp in the center rides backwards on the motor assembly itself. ill try to post some pics.

I need help guys!

Thanks!

Kyle

RE: RearView mirror

The two "gold" springs hold the mirror to the front housing, along with the motor assembly. There are a lips the springs snap into on the front housing. I took a little pressure off since I did not want to break the lower ones. I drilled little holes in the gold springs beteen the bend, and the corresponding holes thru the housing, being very carefull. I has held but I will never let them fool with the mirror at the car wash and go for "outside" only, I also lectured my wife but that is another story

RE: RearView mirror

Sir-

Is where I got mixed up is in your write up you wrote that the mirror itself attaches to the front part of the housing. I was the thinking that the front part of the housing was the part that faced the windshield ie the part of the car.

As you can see in the pictures, the clips are actaully upside down, they go the other way and attach to the part of the housing that faces the driver.

once I read your write up again, I corrected the misunderstanding and saw EXACTLY how it was supposed to go together.

thanks so much guys!

RE: RearView mirror

Thanks for the great write up sir!

If anyone wants info on how I used epoxy to reinforce the remaining internal clips let me know, and I might post the product and procedure I used.

Thanks guys
