RE: couple of the last 140 600 V12's
Yeah nice cars....
Regarding the black one, this is the second run for it on ebay...He is asking too much in my opinion ..almost 30k....
I know that it has been said that there were 14 s600 produced in the last year of 99...But i could swear, i have been tracking many over the years...and i saw at least 10 , mostly black...and of course mostly black on black/gray. 3 were black/tan...
I have my doubts on the number produced..no matter how official it is....

yes. 30 K is too much. I could understand if it had like 50K miles on it, then it could be priced at that.
are you sure that all these cars are actually originally sent to the American market, cuz some could have been imported from Europe to America, by some people.
i don't know what website it is anymore, but i scanned it on my computer a while ago, and here is the page.

It appears that the "V12" badges on the coupe are located too high. Does this indicate some paint or body work?
your absolutely right. Here is another w140 coupe 600, and it does not have it as high. I must say though, some 600 owners like relocating their badges, for whatever reason. However, this possibly could indicate some paint/body work.
Yes, the badges on the coupe are slightly out of position. I emailed the seller to find out why, but it appears to be a dealer thing and the seller had no clue. Par for the eBay course, I'm afraid. It seems that the strange belief on the part of many new and used car sales personnel that they need know very little about the product they are selling carries over into the electronic realm. What a surprise.

i agree. on the descriptions for many cars, the seller doesn't even know much about the car. For example, in the 1999 S600 ebay ad above, it was mentioned nowhere that that is one of the 14 s600's for 1999.
by the way carjoy, your car looks very nice from the avatar. Do you have any more pics. I love seeing other people's w140's. Some are so very nice. And from the look of your avatar, your car also looks very nice. Congrats on your 95 S600. W140's are great cars, and the 600's are the greatest.
Apologies to all for that insomnia-induced bit of negativity. There are, of course, many reasons why people charged with selling used cars will know little about them. This is especially so if the car has come through the auction process.
The Gray Beast is a '96 Euro spec vehicle sold new in Germany in early '96; imported in 2000 or 2001. Very tarted up: webasto aux heater, desk for the rear seat, 1st gen nav, trip computer -- you get the idea. The interesting question is what did AMG do to this car? American AMG foax were unhelpful and referred me to their colleagues in Germany. Well, I understand that few people want to spend time/effort researching a question without hope of some payback. What I do know is that this car is dynamically very different from American spec S600's. It'll jump like a 5000 lb. gazelle. Making it perform its tricks is childish, but very gratifying, nonetheless. I do have other photos on another computer -- will look and send. Thanks for the compliment.
