What is up with the vin decoder on this site?

This is what the vin on my 1993sel came back as. I have checked it to be sure if it is right and I cant understand it. is it possible to have two vin numbers that are the same? Although I havnt looked under the bonnet of the car yet this is the vin that is listed on my rego sticker. Can someone please explain this to me? is there a problem with the vin decoder because the miliage is too high on the car for it to be from that year and besides its a w140. I think my card must be wrong.

yea. i think the one on this site does it only for american MBZ's, while the other one does it for everwhere else in the world.

But if a vin is specific to each car then why did it not bounce back as an error because two cars cant have the same vin ca they. Or is it just the script reading different parts of teh vin and picking up what info it can?

668, 862 what do those two codes mean?

My car is listed as blue black paint but it is silver. It must have been repainted as a few stone chips on the front of the car reveal a dark blackish metalic coat under it. But a scratch on the back of the car did not. perhaps my car has been in a crash and been rebuilt. But things like the spare wheel well and so on are also silver so if it has been repainted its been done well.

My car is listed as BLue Black also but I am almost certain my car is called Pearl Black . I am going to dig out orginal papers if I can find them .
