70k miles service

I have a 95 s420 with 70k miles

it has a really bad mileage, on average 12 mpg with light foot,

I guess this is a sign that it needs a lot of servicing done

anybody can estimate how much the regular service at 70 000 miles would cost?

The most expensive service is the 60K,is that service done on your car?(Should be around $900),the 70K is just an regular service probably around (200-300).
I don't think that service will help you solving your problem with the fuel consumption.
I have the same car S420, 95 and go est. 400 Miles till the reserve light comes on and that is in town.

I do 400 miles per tank as well but with an S320. Thats real good for a V8!.

Wait a minute. I easily get 600 miles to a tank on my S420. I average 26-28 mpg!!!
Correction - that is on the highway. 400 miles in town sounds about right.
