The locking pump probably. It is under the passenger sear seat in a "foam enclosure" It controls lock/unlock, the lumbars, provides vacuum for the HVAC actuators when the engine is not running, trunk release, back up rods if you got them. Depending on the kind of pump you have you might need a parts kit with "t"s caps and plugs. They standardized the pump and got rid of the manifold. Do a search, there is a picture of one showing the pump on this site I think

I just disassembled the central locking pump of a local W140 owner

Everything on his car operated by the pump, the locks, reverse rods, trunk handle, etc., wasn't working. We got to the motor and put 12 volts across it and got nothing... dead. Could have been worn out brushes or broken wire in the windings or something else, but whatever caused it, the motor was gone. We have searched around this entire site and also on www.mercedesshop.com and found a couple of interesting threads. It appears that some individuals have rebuilt these pumps using electric motors that power R/C cars. Everything else inside his pump looked OK. No obvious signs of damage, and you could hear clicking of solenoids when he used his remote to unlock and lock the doors, but the motor didn't run.
