hi, i just lost my key to my 96 s320. does anyone know the replacement cost? replacement cost for the master key with remote? replacement cost for master key without remote? thanks
i lost one of my remote key i still have one left so i need another spare key just in case. over 100 is too much for me. so i will just go with a non-remote key.
are these key blanks on ebay compatible with my 96 s320?
hey thanks for the reply, todays saturday the mercedes parts department is closed here in new hampshire i will give them a ring monday to get a replacemnet key. see if they can do a switchblade replacement if i get used remote key on ebay but 20 bucks for a non-remote key isnt that bad. thanks.
There is a chance the remotes on ebay dont work, there wa some coding involved, the keys can be replaced in the remote by driving out the pin. $20 or less for a regular key $125 for a complete working key and remote.
Peter, where do I go to buy 2 remote & key for under 200 a piece?
I got a S420 1998, & the remote don't work. I replace the batt, when I push the button I can see the small LED flash once but nothing happen at the door.
I locate the alarm control unit in the trunk, disconnect & re-connected but no change. dealer want 500 for 2!!
thanks wrench
With most remote keys that you buy u would have to get it synchronised with the car. I got a remote flip key from the stealers a few months ago (AUD$350 - ouch!), and the remote was redundant until it became tuned in.
I just bought a master key for my S500 from the dealer and they only charged me $16.5 + tax. You will have to prove ownership, registration card or insurance papers are fine, plus your drivers licence. I got the key in less then a week.

They can order, as I recall Loeber, Lincolnwood ordered a completer remote, and was able to cut a key only while I was there for sevice back in the mid nineties. remote $135, key $15 adjust for inflation.
I just bought a 87 300E with one key. I got one made with remote capability for $45 at Locksmith Central at 3977 24th St in Noe Valley . The guy even came out and serviced all the locks on the car without me even asking. He opens at 10:30 am.
The prices have gone up slightly, I just picked one up with a key coded to my vin, and with the proper infra red code, list $174, with my MB discount $140 plus tax. I aimed it at the door used the key to sync, my other remotes continue to work. It shipped in two days they needed my signature and registrarion.
320 for the remote? woa. its a little over 200 here for that one. 70 for the regular and the simple all metal that doesnt start the car is no longer available from what im told
OK I should have seen a 98 car, when you tested the key with the camera did you see the actual beam in the lens, blue, not the red lens that blinks once after the pulse has been sent
Just a few more things, if the key really is sending out the IR beam as seen in the camera and it still does not work, it could be a faulty receiver in the door handle, the IR module could have gone down, also on these keys they can drift off, I repair keys in the UK and the only ones that I have problems with is these flip out ones, they can send a beam but not one that is recognized by the car.
By having a spare key you can always discount everything else if one works and the other does not
OK, I don't see any blue LED, I see a quick red LED at the same time I press the unlock, lock or trunk. Also the engine start with the battery removed.
I test the voltage of the battery = 2.75 VDC. I will buy a new battery & carry my volmeter with me test before I buy, I understand that the voltage should be above 3.0VDC idealy 3.06 VDC.
I am pulse by the use of IF to ID the communication format of that remote.
If infra red format, how & why the inside cover state 315 MHz which is a radio frequency?
The inside cover carry those inscription = SIEMENS, 5WK4795 315MHz.
The outside cover carry those inscription = FCC ID KR 55,
DOC/MDC 267 102 334.
For the last 2 days, when shifting in park or neutral, the doors don't unlock like it use to do last week, I have to unlock using the switch on the dash above the radio.
Does those infos help or make it worse!!!????:bowdown::bowdown:
The little windows in the door handles are the IR, the ECU control module N54/4 could be at fault,,, you will never know or it makes it very hard without a spare key
I got spare key, but they don't have the chip in it, they open the door, the ignition lock, trunk, crank the engine but engine don't fire up. ( been cut by locksmith).
Thanks wrench
