Side view mirror

Hi guys-

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to take the mirror apart to get at the motor! The mirror doesnt close and is kinda loose.

If anyone knows how to get this mirror apart without breaking it, can you post please?

RE: Side view mirror

Yes. Close the mirriors (towards the doors) Look from the side. You should see a clip/pin/wire running vertically. It's not straight. there are two curves, on towards the top and another near the bottom. With a long, thin flathead screwdriver, nodge the top bend on the clip towards you, while gently pulling the outer case away towards the rear of the car. Now the bottom. That clip is the only thing holding the outer casing of the mirror to the rest of the housing.
As in making love... PLEASE BE GENTLE.

You may have to manually force it. But, I don't know for sure.

It'll probably just grind the gears, which I believe are plastic, so I don't think it'll do much damage.

RE: Side view mirror

Thanks,

Its been forced already which Im guessing is why the power fold doesnt work, it looks like someone hit the side while pulling into a garage.

I can hear the motor running inside so the motor works! lets hope the gears a available from the dealer.

RE: Side view mirror

I dunno-

This mirror is very stiff! Its NOT moving.

I can see a long roll Pin, I wonder if I can drive it out and seperate it that way?

Any other ideas?
