Dare I buy an aging luxury car...?
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/car/110758732.html
Guy said he'll take 5 grand cash. Of course I don't have 5 grand cash but I'll get it together somehow. Car has a lot of miles and as we all know maitenence will be a bitch. I however am mechanically savy and can do basic maitenence (changing oil/light bulbs/fuses/belts/etc). Also 1980's-90's S-class were absolute tanks so I don't know if the engine crapping out on me is too much of a concern. Anyway, would you recommened this car for a man who doesn't have too much cash but loves himself some bullet proof windows?

I couldn't find any 420/320/500's around here for less tahn 5 grand. There are older 420SEL's but those are getting ancient.

How's this one?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/89-Mercedes-Benz-300SEL-LOW-MILES-LOADED-RUNS-GREAT-NJ_W0QQitemZ4588474499QQcategoryZ6330QQrdZ1QQcmdZV iewItem#mainImage
Granted, it's a W126, but it will be far easier and cheaper to maintain than an early 600.
