Check your door Check!

I posted ( I think I did anyway..) that my door check was not working, AND my driver's window only went down about 1/2 way.

well, I took it all apart, and discovered why!

I am still trying to figure out how this happened, but it seems as though the door check had bound up. it looks like the two bolts on the outside of the door were removed..then it seems like the door was then forced closed ( the third bolt appeard to be torn fromthe inside of the door) causing the door check to bump into the window track, bending it.

a little bit of un-bending action fixed that. Fotunately, I didn't have to replace the regulator! the new door check is going in later this evening. how fun is that?

In any case, I'd keep an eye on those door-checks. it looks like a failed door check can cause some major headaches. my door works perfectly now, and so does my window.

I have to say I love this forum.. lots of great how tos and DIYs out there.
