My 600 SEL's MAFs do not like the K&Ns. It cost several hundred $$ to make this determination.

For what es worth... finally found little remote behind engine cowling wedged between two return lines to evaporator. After removing lower covers and cleaning up with pressure washer et finally showed a glimmer of shine from end of key. Anyway...drama es over and key en pocket, phew! But engine es very clean for sure! LOl

Those of you who are paying hundreds of dollar to replace MAFs are literally retarded. The fix to clean HFM literally costs about $2.50. All you need is 91% isopropyl alcohol (2 small bottles or one big one) and a zip log baggie, soad each HFM for about 5 min, let it dry then bingo BRAND NEW HFM. i've done this so many times the HFM feels brand new. if you run K&N's i would do this twice a year, other hten that car has run perfect since the day i installed the intake. I feel bad for all those idiots paying $$$$ to replace MAF.

AMEN, simple but true. For the millionth time, K&Ns do NOT permanently destroy MAFs unless you over oil them until they are dripping. Again, if you do so, ou can clean your MAF using IPA (not India Pale Ale). ;)

Ok...I know thread was probably run into the ground, but I have a question for those of you that put this light coat of oil on. What do you use to put it on, and where all do you allpy it on the filter?

RE: kn air filters for my s600c v12

You can buy it in an aerosol spray can ($10), or you can buy a bottle of it for much less ($6). I got a gallon for $20. Then just get any old spray bottle and use that to spray the red oil evenly over the surface until they are uniformly red. The best time to do it is at night, then let the filter sit overnight on a newspaper so the oil is dispersed uniformly through absorption and wicking. Extra oil will be absorbed into the newspaper. In the morning, touch up whatever spots that remain dry, and install immediately.

Smile K&N Improvements.

Well I do have K&N filters on my S600 and at first I was stunned when going to gas pump..Calculated mileage and came up to 18 mpg mostly city driving where before I was getting 13-14 mpg.. Oh yes with the K&N I also replaced sparkplugs using the OEM parts. The old plugs (120K miles) when pulled looked almost new, no damage or visual wear on them at all. ( so I kept them since they are not cheap). Now doublechecking my mileage for several weeks it is steady between 16-18 mpg city driving.(And I am a heavy footed autobahn driver LOL) Can't wait to take it on longer trip. I have my OBDG2 reader hooked up all the time looking for any signs of problems. So far over 2 months zero errors. Perhaps the combination of New plugs, K&N filters and my Lorinser exhaust makes it work so well ? How much power do I have now ? I really don't care. The car is very responsive and accelerates great at any speed so I feel there is plenty, so o nce in a while (with my K-40 installed) I let it go to check handling at high speeds. Also Tires inflated to 35 PSI with nitrogen.

I make 402 HP w/o k&n. I just changed them with fresh Mann's.

12 + k&n = beware.

Fram air hog??? A safer possibility.
