95 S500 - choking on 2nd engine start

Hi,

Wonder if anyone might know why...

1995 S500V

Everthing is good when I start the car first time in a day. Drive it and park it for a while. Then when I start the car....it will shake (more like choking) for up to 5 minutes. My mechanic first thought it is the fuel injector...cleaned it and didn't help. Anyone have suggestions before I bring it into the shop again??

Thanks very much

Try checking your distributor caps for condensation/tracking. Mine has been doing this for years.

Norms is right. Your distributor and caps have worn out or have carbon built up. As the car gets hot, the resistance in the distributor goes up, and electrical service to the plugs is compromised. Eventually, the car starts misfiring, timing is thrown off, and in the long term may damage your pistons and engine. Plugs will also get fouled. Total cost at dealership = $1,000. DIY will cost you about $300.
