Is it possible to retrofit seat memory function?

Hi,

does anyone know whether it is possible to retrofit seat memory functionality to a 95 S420?

I understand that most US MBs W140s come with seat memory functions as standard, but my Singapore "born" car does not. It has the fully adjustable seat - just no buttons to store & retrieve memory positions.
I have discovered that with such infintely adjustable seats, that once changed by another driver, I find it very difficult to reposition the seat to something I like. The problem here is too much choice!

All suggestions much appreciated.

kind regards Andrew TD

RE: Is it possible to retrofit seat memory function?

Good question. In order for seats to have memory, there must be position feedback devices built in to know where the seat is positioned. If a car is manufactured without these feedback devices, installing the seat memory module won't help. I don't know if the same seat setup is used in cars without the memory seats. If the seats do have the feedback devices, it would seem you can retrofit it. Also, the mirrors and steering wheel are tied into the memory function. Those settings get stored as well. So the same issue comes up...if these items don't have the position sensors, retro-fitting won't work.

Thanks for the feedback.
So the next question is - can anyone tell me how to determine whether or not my car has the feedback devices?

Since it is different part number I guess it is different seats…
