is it possible to swap the rear lights model '91 into model '98
is it possible to swap the rear lights model '91 into model '98. I know the strip under the bootlid has to be replaced in order to get the facelift rear lights in. But is it possible to do so?

91? maybe a 92 140 chassis I think there were differences in the trunk liner and the innerpartof the tail lamp, along with the lower strip that also contained a infra red for the remote, the later models used a sensor on the mirror

There is a difference in the interior liner, however this doesn't effect the fitting of the newer style lamps. The centre lamp clear piece has a knock out if your car had a IR sensor there. It can be transplanted.
If anyone is upgrading the rear lamps, they must buy the whole lamp assembly (which includes the backing and bulb holders) and not just the lenses.

So, to get this straight
I need :
- Rear lenses
- Rear Bulb holder
- Rear lower strip (white strip under the trunk)
correct?
yes.
Dont buy the lenses and the bulb holder separately. They can be purchased together cheaper. Just ask the vendor for the whole lamp assembly.
You will need..
1x right lamp assembly (all bulbs are included)
1x left lamp assembly (all bulbs are included)
1x centre lamp strip.
When you come to fit these, you must grind your trunk at the same time. Allow an hour for griding with a good metal file. Dont forget to paint the filed corners with the correct touch-up paint to avoid rust. This can be purchased from your mercedes dealer cheaply.
