| RE: Power Antenna 1996 S320 Long: Need repl source Hey Mac! I had the same problem with my S Class. Stupid me! I drove through a car wash with my eyes glued to the rearview mirror watching helplessly as broke off. Your best option, is to look on Ebay of course after I called the Dealer and was told it would cost $162.49!!! Type in: Mercedes Antenna and you should see a number of choices. I bought one with instructions for $15.00. Ask the seller where it's made and if it's an OEM product. The install is pretty easy, unless some of plastic line broke off inside the unit. In that case, you have to take the unit out which entails removing the rear quarter panel.(sucks in the Winter with frozen hands and insufficient tools!!) Take out the broken line, greese the gears, and re-attach the unit. Tricky part is turning back on the radio, then jumping out in time, as to feed to the new antenna line and lock it in place. Now it's good as new, bought it for cheap and installed it myself vs. paying the Dealer probably close to 200.00 to have them do it. |
