There is no such thing in the world of automotive industry as biodegradable harness, I do not know who ever invented that story and its been spreading like wild bush fire.
The degrading harness in a lot of Mercedes Benz are due to (lemon) defective harness installed, they are supplied by Bosch Germany and do not meet to international safety standard and this is a fact, find out thru the technical service bulletin from MB Germany
Logic: What purpose will the biodegradable harness serve, when all it can do is to give you a short circuit and most likely destroy your vehicle.

Whatever, it breaks down (degrades) "bio or not" !!!!
It is just a typical example of missing quality assurance testing and vendor quality testing. It's a shame that Mercedes Benz does not feel responsible and offers a free replacement!
Interesting, in another post I had express my thoughts on the wiring degrading and why in the world would the wiring needs to degrading faster than the rest of the car (stupid idea). Then what you're saying has to be fact that it was just plainly crap and not a crappy idea, lol. Seriously, why there was no mass recall is beyond me, I guess none has caught on fire and killed someone, and MB has already cashed your checks would be a good answer. A relative of mine was telling me he was going to purchase a 1999 MB and I told him "you'd better stick with Lexus or something" if you plan to enjoy your car and not your car enjoy you dumping money into it. There is a site mercedes-benz-usa.com that has feed backs (kind of like ebay, lol) from owner of newer models and all, you should hear the horrors.
