| just got back from the mechanic i had my car over at the stealers because of a check engine light... the code was for the kickdown cable on the car.... they quoted me a price of 650+tax..and wanted to charge a diagnostic fee of 100 dollars, even though they had just charged that to me the week before...so i took my car out and took it to my friends cousin who is a mechanic, and claimed he works on mercedes..after missing my baby for 5 days.... he fixed the kickdown cable and also my AC...apparently the older 140's have a resistor in the front that runs the AC system and the aux fans... this had burned out, causing the relay to burn out, causing my car temp to jump from 60-110 degrees back and forth... after a tortourous 5 days of not having my baby, i got it back, runnig perfectly, AC freezing and the tranny smoothly shifting...btw, he also changed the thermostat and the 2 sensors... and also he made the 1 resistor into four... he said the newer 140's have 4 resistors and he upgraded it (it was some kind of recall apparently on the car)....just wanted to share my experience with u all.... and all this got done more a little more than what the dealership wanted for the kickdown cable alone... then he also flushed my radiator, transmission, and ac system....now everything is excellent...
