hey guys i am having a big problem, i have been exchanging 4 alternator from the dealer thinking that they are a defect and also replace brand new battery but it does not charge to the battery. i drive with the battery light on then it will die out on me, i been trying to find the problem but dont know what else to do. volt meter stays above 13. anyone has this experience or any suggestion.
I would check the Voltage at the battery terminals with a Voltmeter. A Battery that is not charged by the alternator usually has 12.7 volts. If the battery is charged by the alternator the voltage reading would be between 13 and 14.8 volt depending on the state of battery charge. Measure with the engine running, Turn the lights on to load the charging circuit. If you measure with running engine less than 12.7 volts, you can assume that something within the charging circuit is bad. Could be just a disconnected wire running to the alternator. The Alternator has a integrated Voltage regulator, so I assume that is ok since you have changed the alternator several times.
Check your voltage first!
If you have aboye 13 Volts with running engine, than the alternator charges the battery. Check all ground connections at the alternator and Battery in the trunk!
