adjusting tension on the accelerator pedal

i own a 96 s320, the accel pedal seems not very smooth. sometimes when i am fixed at a speed the pedal seems to freeze in place. and i have to let go a little bit of gas then accelerate otherwise i would have to press a bit harder and make a sudden accleration, is there a way to make it smoother?

RE: adjusting tension on the accelerator pedal

A little auto trans fluid on the pivots. Do not move linkage from under hood with engine running, it will cause the check engine light to come on.
