power steering filter change?

wheres the filter located? how do you remove it. i see that theres a steering filter for like 3 bucks online. the steering is not as smooth as it should be. its for a 1996 s320 with 120000, i doubt the past owners have change the fluids in the car.

how do u get the filter out? when i order the filter, they say theres a gasket you have to order separately is this correct? plus how much fluid do you usually suck out in the steering reservoir? thanks

Start with unscrew 160
Lift 158 up and 155 will be mounted on 158.
Then unscrew 149 and lift 146 and 143 up.

The filter (137) is in the bottom of the container.

When you perform this also renew the oil, using Mercedes-Benz steering gear oil.

What gaskets to renew i don’t know, it is only 155 and 128 that is gaskets, but i always say, never repair something that works.
But you might want to change them if there are any leaks.
