anyone have any tips on rear wheel bearing replacement? Looks like I have a job coming up.

Also, any special tools that I would need?

Thanks !!

RE: W140 Rear Wheel Bearings

Strongly suggest you purchase a subscription to Alldatadiy.com. $24.95 first year, $14.95 a year thereafter. Also, you should fill in your vehicle information on your profile so that people can see what vehicle you have. Answers could be very different unless people know.

RE: W140 Rear Wheel Bearings

I have the subscription. Very helpful. I also bought a CD-based shop manual off ebay - between the two sources I have good info. Just wondered about any tips that anyone might have for getting particular parts apart.

Anyway, long story short, turns out it's the FRONT bearings which I've already had apart and repacked....but still feel a bit loose. New bearings on the way this week.

My question about the fronts is how to get the inner race out? Is it a couple of whacks with a wood block or is a press necessary?

Thanks !
