Heater/AC fan speed running slow?

Wow, seems like the problems are just popping up from nowhere. Here's the newest occurance.

When I put the fan speed on Auto or MAX, the speed is usually more than enough to reach the driver/passenger. Now, it seems like the fan speed is half at most. Anyone else have this problem?

RE: Heater/AC fan speed running slow?

Ya, the blower resistor is shot. It sits on the bolow motor in the fresh air intake. Benz's of a different era used heater coils, fool proof, the W140 uses a solid state device which in the original setup would overheat and fail. Thus you end up with no fan speed. A replacement is pricey, third party ones come with big heat sinks and heat conducting paste to ensure they stay cool.

Yes, sounds like the classic failed blower regulator. They run about

$175 from online parts suppliers such as www.autohausaz.com (They are now a board sponsor). I noticed that they had a KAE brand part. Some prefer the BEHR brand part saying it looks more robust.

I used the BEHR blower regulator and have had no problems since. It is incredibly easy to install. I think MERC600SEC/MERC500SEC (or a member by some name like that) has a picture-by-picture description which you should look up. It is very useful [:)].

I bought my blower regulator off of Steve Brotherton of Continental Imports in Gainsville Florida (and had it shipped to Canada). He was very cheap, and he is a very helpful guy too [8D]

If you have any questions, just ask [:)]

Good luck!
