anyone had an issue with missfire.. stopped by a friend and they hooked up the comp and told that the error code is 170, which means cylinder 2 and 6 missfire. this is a 97 320... anyone had a solution before i go to dealer and start replacing all the sensors?????

Thanks for all help!!!

1997 model year means your car is OBD2 compliant. Code 170 is

not an OBD2 code. How did they get this number? OBD2 codes are 5 digit codes, a letter (either P, B, C, or U) at the front followed by 4 numbers.

Having said that, code P0170 is for "Fuel Trim Malfunction (Bank 1)."

I assume your check engine light is lit up, which is why you are inquiring. What are the symptoms, if any, that your car is experiencing?

RE: 1997 model year means your car is OBD2 compliant. Code 170 is

you are right... the check engine is ON, the car would run fine until you press gas all the way and after that it feels like half the engine is running... (feels like you riding a horse) but, to fix the issue, you have to SHUT OFF the car, and start it again then it will work ok until you give it little over 3000rpms. I thought may be it was MAS sensor or coils... but before i get in to purchasing mode... i would really wanted to know where to stick the nose. little more details on the car... never an issue and now its at 115k miles...

thanks for everyones input...

RE: w140 s320 missfire issue

Ok try this.. Inlet manifold leak..or injector seals leaking .. OR catalytic converter blocked.. start with the low cost options first. check the cat is free running and not collapsed..
