I'm the proud new owner of a 97 S500. I know my car doesn't have the "active" suspension (ADS) but I read the S500's and 600's from '92 on have an automatic leveling system on board. I can't find any documentation stating as much. Any insight anyone?

There is no such thing as a "stupid questions" only those that go unanswered! I any event, what your car has is an "Automatic Self-leveling System." The way you can tell is by looking under the rear end. If you see to spheres that look like hand grenades on steroids, then you've got it! The other option, go to the MBZ Dealer, and give them your VIN and they should be able to tell you about what equipment in on board. However, as far as I know, all the US imported S-500's have this leveling system. Also,you can do a search on this forum (see above tabs) and search by key-word= leveling system, rear suspension,etc, etc. A lot of the guys have posted very nice pictures on exactly this subject.
