After reading numerous posts regarding the OKI analog phone in my '97 S500, I've pulled the hand set and the keypad from the car. I tried to stuff the wires from the keypad back through the little hole in the back of the cavity. By doing so it pushes the whole assembly out and now the door doesn't line up with the rest of the dash. I thought I'd ask if anyone can think of a reason NOT to cut these wires. I'm thinking of installing XM or Sirius radio in the cavity. I think I can install the decoder/amp where the cell phone amp is/was located in the trunk. That way I can install an FM modulator in line with the radio antenna and simply run a data cable up to the keypad cavity and install the XM/Sirius head unit. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
