Being a coupe, of course it gave up some well, a lot of rear seat legroom. The shorter wheelbase makes it handling a little better then the long wheelbase sedan IMO. From the driver point of view, there is no difference. Otherwise, they share a lot of other things.

Well no it is not just image. If you live in an apartment, and park underground, like I do, you appreciate that a sedan has shorter doors. It is much easier to get in and out without banging the doors. The doors weigh less and are easier to handle, this is not an insignificant factor with very heavy W140 doors. I find it much more convenient for me, when passengers can get in and out without disturbing the front seat passengers. My friends alway are impressed by the huge amount of room in the back of my S320 LWB, we are talking about luxury here.
However I know that not everyone needs the same features in a car. If you have no friends and intend to enter a lot of races you may want the, stiffer better handleing coupe, LOL.
